5 Months

Whew, we survived!  It's been a rough month around here!  Between lots of waking up at night to mommy getting sick twice, it's been a bit challenging around here. December ended with very little sleep at night, and in January it kept right on going.  Just couldn't get out of our bad habit!  So, we had our own baby sleep bootcamp, and you passed with flying colors!  By the end of the month we had our sleeping baby back!  Woohoo!!!

Everyone who sees you says you're just the cutest baby!  Many say you look just like the gerber baby!  Your big blue eyes are usually the first thing they notice.  At your 4.5 month doctor appointment you weighted 18.6 lbs and are now 26 inches long.  Still our cute little chunk!  You're in 9 to 12 month clothing now.

At the beginning of the month you rolled from tummy to back.  So we're rolling both ways now!  You are such a rolly polly!  You roll everywhere! When I put you down on the ground and walk away for even a second I come back and you're halfway across the room.  You are most definitely a mover.  You're already starting to army crawl a little.

You are so very aware of EVERYTHING around you!  You just want to look and touch and grab any and everything you see!  It really is so fun watching you learn and discover so many new things.  You got a new toy for Christmas, your Baby Einstein exersaucer, that you absolutely love!  It's really amazing to see you figure everything out.  How to pull, push, and swivel around.  You're so smart!  Mr. Turtle was a fast favorite.  I think Mr. Crab is quickly taking over though ;-)

We survived a couple of big sicknesses this month.  I got the sickest I've been in a long time mid-month, and it lasted almost 2 weeks!  Then, the last day of the month I managed to get a stomach bug that had me puking like crazy!  Horrible being that sick and having to stay away from you as much as possible, so you wouldn't get it.  Couldn't snuggle and hold you hardly at all!  Fortunately, you managed to come out unscathed.  Daddy did a great job, and we had Gigi over quite a bit to help while Daddy was at work.

We started you on solids this month.  We decided to go with sweet potatoes first.  We gave you 1 teaspoon for about 5 days. You loved them, and did such a good job of eating them!  You got down every last bite.  Unfortunately, we noticed around day 4 you started breaking out in a terrible rash all over your face.  Turned into some really really bad eczema.  I'm already dairy and soy free, so the doctor told me to cut out eggs since your eczema and gas were getting worst.   Once we started feeding you sweet potatoes and it got even more worst, she asked about my diet.  Well, sweet potatoes is a huge staple to my diet (eat them probably 5 days a week!).  So, we both had to cut out the sweet potatoes.  A week later the eczema and rashes went away (thank the Lord!).  We're going to try carrots at the end of the week.

Here are some other fun things you're doing now...

*You love playing with Daddy's beard
*You are always chewing on your hands.  Not exactly a thumb sucker, but pretty much the whole hand.
*I should just trying to put headbands on you.  You almost immediately pull them down and start chewing on them.
*Same thing with socks or shoes.  You manage to get them off with in seconds of them going on.
*You giggle all the time!  We love it.
*You still love practicing standing up.
*You're passing toys from one hand to the other.
*Love reading time with mommy!
*Love singing along to music playing.
*You managed to get your foot in your mouth this week.  You thought that was a pretty cool trick!
*You're almost sitting up all by yourself!  We're kinda slumping over more than sitting, but we're close!

Miss Sophie

Annabelle has a best friend...Miss Sophie.  She takes Miss Sophie EVERYWHERE!  Inevitably, Miss Sophie will end up tucked safe and sound under Annabelle's arm.  Just too cute!

I didn't believe the hype on this thing, but now I'm a believer.  She LOVES little Miss Sophie!  Highly recommend to all you mommies out there!

4 months old!!

December has come and gone, and you are now 4 months old!  You just get cuter and cuter.  People come up to me all the time to tell me how beautiful you are!  So many have told me you look just like the Gerber baby.  Of course your dad and I have to agree!  You are getting so much more comfortable around other people.  I think we're getting over our phobia of crowds.  You are such a smiley baby!

You get more and more active and alert by the day!  Such a fun stage seeing you grow and discover everything around you.  You are such a vocal little girl.  We have too many videos to count of you talking, some might call screaming ;-) .  You're daddy is a little scared what's going to happen when you start using words!

A big huge milestone happened this month...you rolled over!  It was so exciting!  Not only did we get it on video, but mommy and daddy got to be there to see!  You rolled from your back to the left onto your stomach.  It took you a week or so to roll the other way.  You haven't quite figured out how to roll back  onto your back yet.  Maybe next month!  You also are beginning to scoot quite a bit.  You haven't quite figured out what to do with your hands in the whole process, but you're almost there!

You're already wanting to stand all the time. Of course mommy or daddy are helping you a little, but you are done wanting to sit up.  You just want to stand.  Your little legs are getting so strong!

You are really starting to get into toys.  Mr Elephant is one of your favorites.  You love to crinkle is belly, and chew on his nose.  Miss Sophie the giraffe is another favorite.  You are usually chewing oh her ears or feet.  ;-)  We pretty much take these two with us everywhere we go.  You are really loving your tummy time.   You also love watching Baby Einstein.

You are giggling all the time.  You love playing games with daddy.  He makes you laugh a lot!  You do this cute thing before you fall asleep, especially when you're in your carseat.  You started cooing and "singing" really quietly.  We know once you start that you're going to be out in about 5-10 minutes.  Cutest thing ever.

You have started grabbing your right toe while being changed.  You are finding your feet more and more.  Anytime we stand you in front of a mirror you immediately start smiling and giggling.  Daddy plays this fun game where he holds you like you're an airplane and flies you toward the mirror.  You just crack up!  So fun!

Your 4 month check up you weighed 17 lbs and were 27 inches long.  You're about the 95th percentile for both weight and height.  I will say in the month of December we took some huge steps back in the sleep department.  The 4 month sleep regression is real!  You are no longer sleeping through the night.  Poor thing, you are teething and dealing with some allergies.  We thought you were getting pink eye, but turns out just a small cold in your eye.  We are all ready for things to go back to normal!  Hopefully next month!

Birth Class Reunion

We did a 12 week birth class for the Bradley Method in anticipation for Miss Annabelle.  There were 3 other couples in the class with us.  We joined a couple weeks in, but loved going through the process with other couples.  And it was so nice being around couples with similar goals in giving birth, experiencing the same things, and getting to ask tons of questions together.  I highly recommend the classes if you're wanting to go the natural route.  Three out of four of us were having girls.  We were second in line with due dates, but it turned out we were third to actually deliver.  Out of the four couples, 2 out of 4 were able to give birth naturally. It was fun getting to meet everyone's sweet babies, and share our birthing stories.  So crazy we're all mommies and daddies now!
